The Artists in Motion Competing Team allows dancers ages 6-18 take their talent and passion for dance to the next level. At AMDC, we focus on performance, technique, flexibility, strength, compassion, teamwork, and respect. Dancers participate in 3-4 competitions each season as well as Tremaine Dance Conventions in July. As a team, we take pride in our individuality, uniqueness, and mistakes we learn from both as a dancer and human being.
The Director and Choreographers at AMDC are looking for dancers with strong technique, flexibility, musicality, great stage presence, a dancer able to take constructive criticism. As a team, we take pride in our individuality, uniqueness, and mistakes we learn from both as a dancer and person. We are looking to build a strong dance family who works together to be the best team to represent Artists in Motion Dance Center.
Once You’re a Part of the Team
Any dancer, age 6 and up, is eligible to audition for Dance Company. It is important that each dancer and parent read and understand the competition team requirements prior to making a decision to participate on a competition team.
Dance Company Levels will be divided based on technique, age, ability, attitude, maturity, and motivation.

Dancers have a chance to audition for Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Musical Theater, and Open routines. It is mandatory that Dance Company members audition for ALL routines in their age category.

ALL Dance Company Dancers must take all conditioning, Jazz technique, Tap technique, and Ballet classes in order to be a part of Dance Company.

Must take at least 1 summer intensive session.

Mandatory to attend every competition.

Both Dancer & Parent must sign the Dance Company Contract in order to be part of the team

In September, Dance Company Members audition for each routine in their age category. The dance company instructors / choreographers will then choose which / how many dancers are in their routine. All decisions are final. Each routine receives 1 hour of Rehearsal each week. The number of group routines, solos, dues/trios, vary each season.
AMDC does not tolerate bullying, misconduct, or rude behavior.
We believe in unity, trust, and respect. We believe in helping one another to become better dancers and a greater team.
What to Expect at Auditions
Arrive 20-30 min early to warm up & stretch. Parents & Dancers will fill out Online Audition Form if they haven't done so already and complete the $10 Audition Fee. Dancer's forms will be finalized and audition numbers will be distributed.
ALL RESULTS ARE FINAL.
$10 Audition Fee will only be accepted in person at the studio.
DANCERS MUST AUDITION FOR ALL STYLES
Mini Dance Company (ages 5-7)
These little dancers will get exclusive training to help improve their strength, technique, fluidity, flexibility, and confidence. They will compete and perform together in a routine that will make their personalities sparkle! It is required that the dancer takes at least 1 year of Ballet / Tap OR Jazz/Tap prior to being a Dance Company Member. This is an Audition Only Class.
Mini Team will be selected by the Director and Teachers/Choreographers in June 2023.
Junior Dance Company Auditions (ages 8-11)
Lyrical / Ballet Audition
Dancers will be tested on their ballet skills and terminology.
Dancers will learn a short Lyrical combination
All placements are final
Hip Hop / Jazz Audition
Dancers will be tested on their tap technique, rhythm, musicality, and stage presence.
Dancers will learn Jazz progressions across the floor ( kicks, turns, jumps, tricks)
Dancers will learn a short Jazz OR Hip Hop combination
Dancers will be asked to improv.
Teen & Senior Auditions (ages 11+)
Ballet Audition
Dancers will be tested on their ballet skills, technique, and terminology.
Jazz / Contemporary Audition
Dancers will be tested on technique, musicality, flexibility, and stage presence.
Dancers will learn Jazz progressions across the floor ( kicks, turns, jumps, tricks)
Dancers will get the chance to show off any special skills or tricks they have!
Dancers will learn a Jazz OR Contemporary combination
Dancers will be asked to improv.
Hip Hop Audition
Dancers will learn a short Hip Hop combination to test their rhythm, technique, and strength.
Parents will receive an email with the results within a week!
